Massimiliano Sassoli de Bianchi (President of Area 302) studied theoretical physics at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and at the École Polytechnique Fédérale (EPFL) in the same city. His interests focus on the foundations of physical theories and the study of consciousness.
He has also gained extensive experience in the managerial field thanks to having managed the family business, Mangaroca International. He is currently a researcher at the Center Leo Apostel for Interdisciplinary Studies (CLEA) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), Director of the Basic Self-Research Laboratory (LAB) and co-founder of the Social Business Innovation Lab (SBILAB) together with Samantha Caccamo (SBE).
