Ahimsa Round Table – Cape Town
On June 21 the second Ahimsa Round Table on Global Health and Faith Inspired Communities opened in Cape Town, South Africa. A total of 96 participants of 26 different nationalities attended the event.
SBE’s presentation was entitled: “The Social Business Model: Solving Healthcare Issues in a Sustainable Way and Creating New Jobs”. Mr. Jean-Francois de Lavison, President of Ahimsa Fund, Mr. Renier Koegelenberg, Executive Director of EFSA Institute and Mr. Aaron Motsoaledi, South Africa’s Minister of Health, opened the event highlighting the efforts of all participants in improving global health through innovative and sustainable solutions. Speakers included representatives from the World Health Organization, the Global Fund, former UN head Dr. Mukesh Kapila, and renowned social entrepreneurs Jack Sim of the World Toilet Organization and Tony Meloto of Gawad Kalinga.
During the event SBE initiated new partnerships to launch social business initiatives in several African countries, Peru and Nepal.
